THEY ARE HERE!!
Despite some delays out of JFK, and an inability to communicate once they landed at the airport in Stockholm, I found my mom and dad and it was so so good to see them.
I decided finally to just go to the train station and try to see if they got off the train. I had impeccable timing (which surprised me), and showed up right beside the door that they were coming out of on the train in Centralstation.
The jet lag was apparent, but we forged ahead (for a little while) and got their passes for the public transportation, dropped the bags off at the Airbnb, and headed to Gamla Stan for lunch. We spent the afternoon at Myntkabinnetet (the money museum), got groceries, and popped in and out of tourist trap stores. Anything to keep their eyes open for just a little bit longer. Around 6:30 we finally caved and headed back to the apartment. We played some cards and tried to watch some Swedish TV, but we lost dad to snores right away. Mom powered through until around 8, and then they both were out.
I entertained myself by watching Friends for a while, but now it's time for bed for me as well. They might wake up very early tomorrow, so I have to be ready!
It was definitely a good first day :)
