Bottenskraparna

Today is officially one week of being on the island.

I have been very busy seeing, eating, playing, and learning my way around Gotland and Kneippbyn and Visby.

This morning everyone slept in a little and rested up from the busy week.  When I finally decided to acknowledge that the sun was out (and had been since 3:30am), I got up and ate breakfast on the back porch in the morning sun with Anja.  Then it was project time!

Vendela has an old beat up classical guitar which only had 3 strings on it until this morning.  Now it's a little cleaned up and has 6 new strings and is ready to be loved on a little.  I don't typically play classical, so it will take some getting used to with the wider neck, but I did really enjoy playing for a little while.

After, it was time to run to the market and the pharmacy.  Unfortunately my throat has become a little sore and my nose a little runny.  I think perhaps from the cold rainy game yesterday.  I picked up some ginger cough drops which are super tasty and a nose spray to help clear out everything caught up in my head.  I'm feeling chipper, but definitely enjoying a relaxing day.

Trips to the grocery are always fun in different countries:

I found Arkansas PB in the MAXI :)
The American Imports section that made me sad...
At 5:00 Boston had his last undervattens (underwater) rugby game.  So we went to watch.  I was confused the whole time, but it was entertaining to watch them all pop up for air and then dive back down into the game.  They are called Bottenskraparna (the bottom scrapers)!

When we got home we prepared a great dinner of laxburgare (salmon burgers), sallad (you should be able to figure that one out), fresh sparris (asparagus), and boiled potatis (again use your head).  After cleaning up from dinner Vendela, Ali, Boston, and I went down to Kneippbyn for a short round of mini-golf on that difficult course (I didn't play much better...), and then I got to FaceTime with momma and dad for Father's Day and just a nice check in time.

It's a really pretty mini-golf course :)
Before bed Anja and I watched The Revenant.  I'm glad I watched it, but I was also really relieved when it ended.  I do understand why Leonardo DiCaprio won awards for his acting.  It was rough to watch though.

Now bed time.  Tomorrow is my first weights session with the team.  I'm interested to see what it will be like.  I'm sure I'll tell you about it tomorrow night.
