Sverige

I have made it to Sverige!

My host family is so wonderfully welcoming and meeting them was a great way to end a long travel day :) My bag decided that it wanted to stay in Stockholm a little longer, so it arrived on the next flight.

From the Visby airport I had a mini tour of the old town and the soccer field on the way to home.  The house is absolutely beautiful with a perfect view of the sunset over the ocean.  It comes late (about 10:00pm currently), but it is well worth the wait.  It's right around 11:00pm now and there is still a healthy glow hanging over the ocean in the west.

We went to the store to get salmon, asparagus, and potatoes for dinner, and Vanessa cooked up a spectacular dinner for the four of us kids.  My bag showed up at the door just before we sat down, and then after we went for a walk with Messi, the family pup (he likes soccer too), down to the beach.

The beach is not sandy, but it is a rock-skipper's paradise.  I also learned that the literal translation for what in Swedish is our equivalent in english to skipping rocks is "to toss sandwiches."  I love it.

They are still trying to teach me to say "meatballs" (kötbullar) and the name of the amusement park that is in our back yard (Kneippbyn), and Boston has promised to teach me the colors in Swedish (I can kind of get yellow and blue - the most important ones here), and also how to play FIFA on x-box.

I think it's going to be a good summer.
